“Comfort in the Cross”
A Guest Blog by Sarah Walton
I came across this article this morning, through a link in my inbox. The publish date caught my attention–one week before our grandchildren’s ATV accident. THE day when our beautiful granddaughter was suddenly taken to Heaven, our hearts were broken, and our family and our lives were forever changed. The shaking questions and doubts that followed…How could God allow this to happen? Didn’t He hear my prayers for protection? What about Psalm 91 and Romans 8:28?
WHY?
This beautiful poem expressed the oft-repeated, circling thoughts of my own mind over these past 2 years, and it echoed the whispered (and sometimes cried-out) questions of my own grieving heart. I share it here, in the hopes that it may encourage someone else who wonders where is God and what in the world is He doing in your own life; someone who may be struggling with suffering, loss, and the unspeakable questions of life, death, God’s love and what is the meaning of it all. Someone who feels like your prayers are unanswered. Someone who, like me, is engaged daily in a fight for faith. You are not alone. God has not left the room. Cling to Him. He is still good. Nothing can separate you from His love. And He is faithful to His children.
***Please read on. Be blessed and encouraged. Keep your gaze on Jesus and “Fight the good fight of the faith.” 1 Timothy 6:12***
