Only a Call Away

Hello, God?

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Jeremiah 33:3

God is ever inviting us to call upon Him. Our burdens are heavy. We are heavy ladened struggling to handle that which we are not designed to manage in our own capabilities. Then tragedy strikes. We are devastated. We sink into a deep pit with no way to climb out. We are in danger of being swallowed up in hopelessness. Well-wishers promise that time will heal our wounds. It does not. We just manage somehow to push it aside so we can function. But in quiet moments when we have time to reflect, our pain returns with a vengeance.

But if we listen further, we can hear God’s call to us in the midst of our grief, “Call unto Me and I will answer thee.” He alone can soothe the aching heart. He alone gives us hope for the future. He alone has great and mighty things that we cannot even conceive of in store for those who look to Him.

So let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 4:16

O Lord, I come to you. I am in need of Your grace and mercy. Fill me with hope, joy, and Your love, I pray, so that I may enter into Your gates with thanksgiving and into your courts with praise (Psalm 100:4). And so I may praise You in the land of the living, looking forward to our blessed hope, the return of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
