Psalm 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
Context: Psalm 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. Psalm 119:3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
From the lexicon: Keep= to watch, guard. Seek=study, beat a path.
Pulling it together: Blessed are they, i.e., in a position to be blessed are those that keep God’s testimony to us. So, if I want to be truly blessed I will get familiar with God’s word-everything He has to say. I seek him, beating a path to his door. I pay close attention to the expressions of his heart.
It is popular today to do as one feels right. The “I gotta be me” principle is more than just an old song. Everyone does what is right in his own eyes as in the days of the Book of Judges. However, God gave us instructions on how to live. He not only said it but wrote it down. His Book stands despite all the attempts to debunk it or to tear it down.
The world seeks true happiness and makes many promises it cannot keep. However, Psalm 119:2 spells out the way to happiness the world cannot give. Seek the Lord with all your heart. Get to know Him. Get to know His Word.
Lord, I pray for grace to love you more and to love your Word–to read it and to yield to its life-changing power in my life.
