The Way, Truth, and Life

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Context: John 14:1–Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:2– In my Father’s house are many mansions…I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:5– Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

From the lexicon: Am=exist. Way=mode or means to something. Truth=what is true pertaining to God and man.  Life=the state of one possessed with vitality

Pulling it together: In a troubled world we have this promise. The Lord of Creation has made a way for us through our difficult circumstances to enter a relationship with our Heavenly Father and to have a future with Him in His house. Jesus is the means through which we enter. He is the only way (Acts 4:12). There is no salvation in any other. Through Him we see the truth that God is God, and we are but sinners in need of a Savior. And through Him we find vitality that extends beyond our lives on this planet. The world cannot comprehend what is in store for those who trust in Christ, because the world is fixed on earthly things. Consequently, the world is spinning out of control with men trying to fix problems they have created through their own rejection of the truth. Jesus began this passage with “Let not your heart be troubled…That is a word of comfort for today. Believe in God and our Savior Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Lord, I pray for grace to think from eternity’s point of view. Whatever comes my way, I have a home with you forever. No place in this world is my final home. “I’m just apassin’ through.”
