Daniel’s Prayer

Daniel 2:20-21  Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his: And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding:

Context: Daniel 2:1-2 In the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his spirit was troubled, and his sleep left him. 2Then the king commanded that the magicians, the enchanters, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans be summoned to tell the king his dreams.

From the Lexicon: Blessed=to kneel.    Wisdom=absolute wisdom.   Might=power.   Changes=alters   Removes=passes away.   Sets up=establishes.   Knowledge=ability to know.

Pulling it together: Daniel, a Hebrew captive in the court of Nebuchadnezzar found himself about to be executed along with all of the king’s wise men because none could be found to interpret disturbing dreams Nebuchadnezzar had. But Daniel pled his case before his guard and took the matter to God in prayer. God gave the interpretation, Daniel told the king and he and his comrades were spared.

The dreams told about kingdoms present and those to come. Events have unfolded just as Daniel said giving proof that God is the God of history. He is in control and His Son came and will come again. Our verses above remind us that God is to be blessed, i.e., be knelt before. He has all wisdom and power. He alters, makes changes to the times-epochs-history. He establishes kingdoms.

Man thinks he is in control. He is not. Current happenings only point to that fact. History is racing toward the final event: the return of Jesus Christ.

Lord I pray for revival. News distresses us daily. Time appears to be drawing short. I pray for revival in your people the church.
